Paper Mario to get a sequel

Paper Mario sequel on the way in Japan.

According to Gigex a sequel to Paper Mario, which originally appeared on the N64, for the Gamecube. The game is set to hit Japan late this year. "Intelligent Systems has been the driving development force behind Paper Mario and its new sequel. According to Famitsu Weekly, the developers are striving to keep the game's unique style intact in its translation to the GameCube." Although no North American plans were revealed, with any luck some details about the new game will appear soon at E3.

Six new Sega games to be revealed at E3

Sega: "Six brand new games at E3".

gi has revealed that Sega is planning to demo six new games at this year's E3 show. A Sega spokesman confirmed that they will show "around six brand new games" at E3 this year." Unfortunately, there will not be a new Sonic title with the batch, nor any of the games that Sammy is developing. It's also anticipated that Sega will be debuting their PSP and Nintendo DS games.

Far Cry pulled in Germany

Ubisoft's uber-popular first-person shooter, Far Cry, has been temporarily banned in Germany.

Gigex is reporting that Ubisoft's Far Cry has been banned in Germany, pending their release of an approved German version of the game. "Ubisoft stated that in compliance with German law, the German Far Cry site http://www.farcry.de had been shut down following a ban on the US/UK version of Far Cry in Germany."

From 1up, "In a somewhat peculiar, but not unexpected turn, Far Cry has been banned in Germany, Ubisoft announced today. Developer Crytek -- headquartered in Coburg, Germany -- may therefore not buy a copy of its own game at local retailers."

Xbox Next game in development?

Digital Anvil possibly working on Xbox 2 game.

gi speculates that Digital Anvil Studios, the Texas-based game development company, is in the process of developing a game for the planned Xbox 2 platform. Digital Anvil was acquired by Microsoft Game Studios in 2001, and is repsonsible for games such as Brute Force and Freelancer. A job advertisement for the company on Microsoft's website stated that they are seeking "an experienced programmer to help us deliver stunning graphics on next generation hardware".

Def Jam Vendetta sequel announced

Electronic Arts announces that it will release the sequel to its hip-hop-inspired fighting game this fall.

According to GameSpot, EA has stated that it has commenced development of the sequel to their hip hop fighting game, Def Jam Vendetta. Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube versions are being developed. "As the line between games and traditional forms of entertainment continues to blur, EA will continue to partner with strong brands like Def Jam to redefine the rules with innovative new titles like Def Jam Vendetta II," said Jeff Karp, vice president of marketing for EA.
