Metal Mame 0.05-80 released

Metal Mame is a custom build of the famous emulator M.A.M.E. (with Win32 UI). The most important change is that the games supported by Metal Mame have their soundtrack remixed with the Heavy Metal style of the MegaDriver band. Metal Mame was created to gather all MegaDriver game remixes in only one Mame distribution with a personalized look and feel.

Xbox emulator claims full speed performance

Cxbx claims to run Turok: Evolution at native Xbox speed.

The devlopers of the Cxbx emulator has posted screenshots and an AVI file demonstrating how Turok Evolution is now completely playable, with only mild graphics glitches. "The gameplay is very smooth, frames per second are real-time. It is even possible to overclock Cxbx and play at 4x+ speed without choking the system."

MAME 0.81 released

MAME is an arcade emulator for DOS and Windows. Only the Windows binaries has been updated so far.

A new version of the popular MAME arcade emulator running under DOS and Windows has been released. "Even though MAME allows people to enjoy the long-lost arcade games and even some newer ones, the main purpose of the project is to document the hardware (and software) of the arcade games. There are already many dead arcade boards, whose function has been brought to life in MAME. Being able to play the games is just a nice side-effect. The huge success of MAME would not be possible without the talent of the programmers who joined to form the MAME team. At the moment, there are about 100 people on the team, but there is a large number of contributors outside the team too. Nicola Salmoria is still the coordinator of the project."
