E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on the Atari 2600 has been called the worse video game of all time by various critics. Based on the movie of the same name, it was released in 1982. The game involves moving E.T. through various screens and obtain three pieces of a device that allows him to phone home. Programmed in only six weeks, Atari believed that sales would skyrocket because of the film's success. Unfortunately, the opposite turned out to be true, and the game was attributed to being the cause of Atari's downfall in the classic game era. Thousands of unsold copies of the game ended up buried in a New Mexico dump.
Take a look at the first few minutes of the game.

Imagine what it would be like to have a Guitar Hero type game back during the days of the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Of course it would have to feature artists of that time, like a-ha, Guns N' Roses, and Michael Jackson. Well, D-Pad Hero brings you all of that. It's a homebrew game distributed in a ROM format for NES emulators. Find out more at http://dpadhero.com
