Unique new features for Major League Baseball 2K6 announced

2K Sports announced today new standard-setting features for Major League Baseball 2K6.

With innovative Swing Stick technology, astounding Pure Motion Physics and the distinguished vocal talents of play-by-play broadcaster Jon Miller and National Baseball Hall of Fame legend Joe Morgan, Major League Baseball 2K6 is the only baseball video game that matters on any console.

"The development team has worked extremely hard on creating unique and exciting features to appeal to every fan of the game," stated Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "All these new features - the innovations in the batting system, the new pitching mechanics, Artificial Intelligence tendencies driven by Inside Edge, the new Pure Motion Physics movement system and so much more - combine together seamlessly to create an authentic and thrilling MLB video game."

New, exciting features for Major League Baseball 2K6 include:

- Swing Stick - Using the design and functionality of other top-selling 2K6 games, the Swing Stick mechanic brings a new level of intuitive control, allowing players to use the Right Analog Stick to control the swing of the bat. Timing, guessing the location of the pitch and swing choice are key to successful execution.

- Payoff Pitching - Introducing a new philosophy to pitching in Major League Baseball video games, pitchers must spot their pitches correctly, taking into account pitch type and break as they throw to a target area.

- Catcher Mechanics - For the first time in any Major League Baseball video game, catchers can call the game, giving gamers playing as pitchers an idea of where and what to pitch.

- All-Star Commentary - The most entertaining Big League commentary returns to Major League Baseball 2K6 as veteran announcer Jon Miller delivers all the play-by-plays and Hall of Fame Legend Joe Morgan calls the on-field action. Additionally, Jeanne Zelasko and Steve Physioc join the team, previewing the team matchups during the season and provide analysis during the playoffs.

As the exclusive and only officially licensed Major League Baseball video game to appear on every major gaming console, Major League Baseball 2K6 will be available for the Xbox 360 and Xbox video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, the Nintendo GameCube and the PSP (PlayStationPortable) system. Major League Baseball 2K6 is slated for release in spring 2006.

LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy announced

Just in time for the American International Toy Fair 2006, LucasArts and TT Games today announced their plans to release LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy [working title], the sequel to one of the best-selling video games of 2005.

Created by TT Games and developed by Traveller's Tales, LEGO Star Wars II is slated for release this fall across seven platforms. May the Force build with you on PlayStation2, PSP, Xbox, GameCube, DS, Game Boy Advance and Windows.

With a comical take on the Star Wars Trilogy that revolutionized pop culture forever (Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI Return of the Jedi), LEGO Star Wars II follows the Rebel Alliance's battle to dismantle the Galactic Empire and rebuild a galaxy in pieces. From Darth Vader's pursuit of Princess Leia aboard her Blockade Runner to a showdown on the reconstructed Death Star, the game includes even more of the family-friendly LEGO action, puzzles and humor that earned the original LEGO Star Wars such popularity and acclaim.

And much more new to offer, it still has. For the first time ever, levels feature vehicles and creatures that players can ride or exit at will. Also, in LEGO Star Wars II's Free Play mode, gamers can customize more than 50 new playable characters by mixing and matching body parts, to build their own LEGO Star Wars heroes. And on certain platforms, a game save from the first LEGO Star Wars can unlock as many as 56 additional characters for Free Play -- that's more than 100 characters total, plus millions of possible creations! Other exciting additions include the ability to Free Play with vehicles, cool new character-specific attacks and maneuvers, playable mini-kit vehicles, an optional advanced mode for experienced players and more.

"Whether it was your first gaming experience or you've played everything released since Pong, the first LEGO Star Wars was one of those rare video games that everyone enjoyed," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "With LEGO Star Wars II, LucasArts is working with TT Games and Traveller's Tales not only to set players loose through the original three chapters of the Star Wars Saga, but also to make this feel like the true sequel our fans have been clamoring for."

"TT Games is delighted to have formed a partnership with LucasArts for LEGO Star Wars II," said Tom Stone, managing director of TT Games. "The first game was an absolute joy to work on, and we're excited to deliver even more fun and creativity, this time with more features to work on and the original trilogy as the game's focus."

Distributed by Eidos Interactive, the original LEGO Star Wars was the No. 13 best-selling video game of 2005 (according to NPD Funworld) with over 2.5 million copes sold worldwide, and also won its fair share of awards. A few of the most notable include G4 Videogame TV's Best Adaptation of 2005 at the G-Phoria Video Game Awards, IGN.com's Best Platform Game, GameSpot.com's Best Use of Creative License, and it was one of 1UP.com's Hidden Gems of the Year. To date the first game has sold more than 3.3 million units worldwide.

Flushed Away announced

D3Publisher of America today announced a worldwide publishing agreement with DreamWorks Animation SKG for video games based on the forthcoming computer animated feature film Flushed Away.

The first games are scheduled to be released for the PlayStation2, GameCube, DS, and Game Boy Advance in Q4 2006 to coincide with the release of the DreamWorks computer animated feature film releasing November 14, 2006.

"This agreement with DreamWorks Animation SKG is a significant milestone for D3Publisher of America and for our new operation, D3P Europe," stated Careen Yapp, vice president of licensing and business development for D3PA. "Our blueprint for success has always included both original intellectual properties, as well as licensed titles from top entertainment companies. Flushed Away will be a key title for us in 2006 and we are very pleased to be working with the DreamWorks Animation team to deliver a fun gaming experience that expands on the computer animated feature film."

"Flushed Away" is a story driven, 3rd-person action-platform game that captures the characters and humour of the film. The games will also feature new characters and environments that are unique to the game that will enrich the world of "Flushed Away." The console products will be developed by Vicious Cycle, and the handheld products will be developed by Altron and ART.

From DreamWorks Animation and Aardman Features, the teams behind the worldwide hit "Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit," comes the computer-animated comedy "Flushed Away." Blending Aardman's trademark style and characterizations with DreamWorks' state-of-the-art computer animation, "Flushed Away" is a madcap comedy set on and beneath the streets of London.

Roddy is a decidedly upper-crust "society rat" who makes his home in a posh Kensington flat, complete with two hamster butlers named Gilbert and Sullivan. When a common sewer rate named Syd comes spewing out of the sink and decides he's hit the jackpot, Roddy schemes to rid himself of the pest by luring him into the "whirlpool." Syd may be an ignorant slob, but he's no fool, so it is Roddy who winds up being flushed away into the bustling sewer world of Ratropolis. There Roddy meets Rita, an enterprising scavenger who works the sewers in her faithful boat the Jammy Dodger. Roddy immediately wants out, or rather, up; Rita wants to be paid for her trouble; and, speaking of trouble, the villainous Toad – who royally despises all rodents – wants them iced...literally. The Toad dispatches his two hapless hench-rats, Spike and Whitey, to get the job done. When they fail, the Toad has no choice but to send to France for his cousin – that dreaded mercenary, Le Frog.
