Nokia and Red Lynx today announced the exclusive follow up to the hugely successful and critically acclaimed Pathway to Glory.
Pathway to Glory Ikusa Islands has been designed based on the feedback gathered from the whole gaming community: gamers and the games press.
"You played, we listened! Thank you! That's our thinking behind this game," says Toni Virhia, producer of PtG Ikusa Islands. "We have had the luxury to have gamers and games media give their feedback to us. We took it all in, added some black humour and great characters and are now proud to present Pathway to Glory Ikusa Islands."
"We tweaked the single player mode from the original Pathway to Glory to make it more hectic and intense", says the lead designer of the game, Miika Tams, Red Lynx. "In addition to the more comprehensive tutorial, the missions have been made more full-on and fast paced. We also improved the maps and expanded the selection of weaponry."
A substantial number of alterations have been made to the PtG Ikusa Islands multiplayer game, designed to both ease game play and generate an even richer experience. An in-game chat system has been added enabling communication between both friends and foes via the N-Gage Arena. Multiplayer game modes via Bluetooth wireless connection and Hot-Seat gaming are also supported enabling up to 6 players to fight using the N-Gage game deck.
"PtG Ikusa Islands is sure to make all the Pathway to Glory fans happy", says Gregg Sauter, Director, Games Publishing, Nokia. "We also believe this game will entice new gamers to pick up an N-Gage QD and get familiar with the game everyone will be talking about".
Pathway to Glory Ikusa Islands has been designed to appeal to the gamers who embraced the original but it has also been carefully enhanced to provide a faster and more approachable game play experience, with a full-scale movie-style narrative. PtG Ikusa Islands boasts the same attention to detail and gritty realism that was a hallmark of the original game.

Nokia announced today a new pricing plan for the N-Gage QD and its corresponding games.
A new price point for the N-Gage QD unit will let retailers offer the N-Gage QD for $99.99, and possibly even less depending on service contracts. The new pricing will be reflected in new titles, such as the upcoming Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory as well as being applied to currently available titles.
"These new price points make it even easier to get your hands on an N-Gage QD and games to experience the thrill of mobile connected gaming," said Gerard Wiener, Director and General Manager, Games, Nokia. "The N-Gage QD combines the best of phones and games which means it's always with you when you need a quick fix of gaming. Our latest N-Gage titles provide great gaming experiences, whether it's a four-player Bluetooth session of Snakes, or providing back-up for your friend's Pathway to Glory platoon on the other side of the world through the N-Gage Arena."
"Having the N-Gage QD available in the US market at $99.99 as a prepaid wireless alternative provides a very simple 'cash and carry' solution and is also a very attractive consumer price," said Andrew Elliott, Senior Manager, Games and Channel Business Development for the Americas. "The N-Gage QD and its games, which offer engrossing game play, 3D capabilities, and support the multiplayer community, offer a very compelling experience at a superior value."
The price changes should be reflected in most consumer channels by March 17, 2005.

The recent QD version apparently was not enough.
From Ferrago, "Nokia has spoken for the first time today about a planned redesign of the ailing N-Gage mobile phone / games console hybrid. The last iteration, dubbed the QD, was certainly an improvement over the cumbersome original, but failed to sell in great numbers still. 'We're looking at new colors, a new look and feel for the QD in the next few months,' revealed Gerard Wiener, director and general manager of Nokia's games division. Improvements in audio and video quality are also on the drawing board for future versions, and use of CDMA wireless networks is also being considered."

The total includes the original N-Gage and the recently released QD model.
From Spong, "Speaking at EGN today, Nokia has been waxing lyrical about the success of the N-Gage, announcing that over a million units (N-Gage and N-Gage QD) have been sold so far. Indeed, many were sceptical of Nokias foray into the games industry, and this is proof of a surprising level of success. With over 100,000 subscribers to N-Gage Arena, plenty of gamers have clearly put their faith (and their funds) into the machine."
