Czech developer to make two games for N-Gage

Cenega has two multi-player games in development for Nokia.

From Ferrago, "Eastern-European publisher Cenega will be developing their first two games for handheld platforms, Nokia have announced today - confirming two new games for their N-Gage 'gamedeck'. Roots: Gates of Chaos and Shade: Wrath of Angels will be created by the Prague-based firm for releases at the end of 2004 and the beginning of 2005."

Mod changes original N-Gage side-talking to normal position

Owners of the original model of the N-Gage can now modify their handsets to match the more normal position featured in the second generation phones.

From All About N-Gage, "The obvious danger is breaking the speaker when you do the work. But if anything else happens to your N-Gage, the chances of it getting repaired under warranty are pretty much zero, and it wouldn't surprise this writer if a Service Centre refused to do an out of warranty repair as well. There's also the possibly major matter of electro-magnetic emissions. You are breaking the case of the N-Gage, and also holding it against your head in different manner to that intended by Nokia, and as such the SAR rating of the phone will probably rise due to the different positioning of the phone's antenna in relation to your face."

N-Gage QD shipping

Nokia's new iteration of the N-Gage begins shipping today, and will be sold for less than previously anticipated.

From Reuters, "The world's largest mobile phone maker Nokia started shipping its revamped N-Gage gaming phone on Wednesday, and said due to operator subsidies it could sell cheaper than previously flagged. Nokia said the phone could be found in Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific for as low as 49.99 euros ($60.60) with subsidies, some 50 euros below the lowest price given by the firm in April when the N-Gage QD was unveiled."

E3 2004: High Gear

N-Gage arcade racer expected by the holiday season.

From GameSpot, "High Gear packs a graphical engine that is one of the best weve seen on the N-Gage Җ even during an E3 show filled with impressive new N-Gage titles. Even in this very early build, the dynamic lighting effects are astounding; we practically flipped our lid when we saw tunnel lights reflected real-time in our cars shiny paint job. Furthermore, the game runs at a fantastic framerate Җ probably around 25 FPS. The car physics appear to be very realistic as well, as your Bentley accelerates deliberately and rocks on its springs around fast turns. In addition to Bentley, Gamelofts also scored licenses from Lotus, Ferrari, and all the rest of the exotic luxury car class."

E3 2004: Operation Shadow

Shooter for the N-Gage will be available this fall.

From GameSpot, "You are thrust more or less immediately into the thick of battle, with only an assault rifle and five grenades to your name. The gameplay will be immediately familiar to fans of third-person titles like MDK and Max Paine, only much simpler: you get a targeting reticle for your machinegun, hordes of enemy soldiers to shoot, an ammo meter, and not a whole lot else. All incoming enemy fire is depicted by white tracer streaks, making it pretty easy to dodge. The first playable level is set in a desert filled with enemy sentries, guard towers, and armor. Basic soldiers usually succumb to a single rifle shot, while towers and armored cars usually require grenades to dispatch. Unfortunately, the grenade-tossing mechanics are pretty counter-intuitive, at least in the version we played. Operation Shadow uses a standard semi-circular meter to gauge how far you will throw an explosive, but you must hold down the button for a very long time to get any appreciable distance on your throw and if you don֒t hit your target spot-on, youll just waste a valuable grenade. Though Operation Shadow purportedly features a range of usable vehicles, we were unable to test them in the short time we played."
