no you can't fix it. Lucky it doesn't get into your ps2 hardware.......dumb memory bugs...also a fair warning to play station fans............DON'T GET MEGA MEMORY CARDS!!! Wow, so that's what it was! I had so much completed in my San Andreas, then I got the holiday demo disk. I decided to playThat VJ2 demo, and when I loaded San Andreas again, it was back in the beginning, and it said I had no saved games. My memory card was empty! I was about to beat my little brother too :(

JEZUS i wish i read this before i just got the demo today and played that VJ2 and loaded my dbz:Budokai 3 And my memory card said it needed to be unformatted! HOLY CRAP
I Lost all the characters ON Budokai 3 AND ALL THE CAPSULES (over 300!)!!!!!!!!!!!
Im pissed off good thing my friend will let me copy his memory from his B3!

same here... my budokai 3 is sqrewed up... and since my budokai 1 and 2 is gone, i lost the bonus capsules also.
i had a level 21 goku
and a level 22 vegeta.
and almost all the characters.
we should all get free demo disks as compensation.

i had devil may cry on their on the last mission then i play the demo then it messes up. I called the playstation 2 information hotline and they said they were sorry but i don't know what we will get as compensation games or some thing. We should sue then they will have a recall and then we will get pizayd. So i was almost done with live 2005 and Nfl Steet and itz all down the drain i should just trade my #### in for gamecube games man they fucked with the wrong people making these bootlegged ass demos we will sue

and a whole bunch of other games
Star wars battle front fully comp.

Guys, I hate to break it to you, but if you look at the legal disclosure in the packaging (aka "the fine print"), I am almost positive that you are going to see something to the effect of "no liability for consequential damages" in there. English translation : they are not legally liable for the data loss you have all fallen victim to (so a lawsuit is out of the question). BUT (and this is kinda iffy IMHO), if you contact the maker of the PS Underground disc and explain to them what happened (DO IT NICELY), they MIGHT do something to help make it up to you. If you try to jump up and down, whoop and holler at them, and make outrageous demands (like all the data you lost) chances are they will ignore you and wave the "no liability for consequential damages" clause around like a cudgle to get everyone to back off. Stuff like this is a public relations wost case scenario nightmare - and if the side that got burned is civil, then the other side may return the favour and try to make it up to the burned side (within reason and scope of ability). This could mean memory cards or a free demo disc as a means of apology for this whole fiasco.
The key is - LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THROUGH EMAIL. This will give both sides the documentation needed for the event.
When you DO email them - WORD IT NEUTRAL and BE POLITE. Threats, gansta-talk, and crap like that will NOT go over well. Likewise, making demands for things (free demo discs or memory cards) will meet the same fate that threats will.
Lastly - KEEP IT BRIEF. All they need is the facts. They don't need to know that you were a hair's breath away from completing 100 games on that memory card and had another 100 games completed on that memory card. All they need to know is that you popped the demo disc in, played it, took it out, and tried to play another game that had save data on that card and it was gone. End of email. Additionally, you can let them know what happened and then ask "what can I do to fix this?" or "do you know how I can fix it?". This effectively knocks the ball into THEIR court and makes you sympathetic in their eyes.
I don't mean to sound preachy or anything, but in situations like this one when you get pissed-off (and believe me, it IS justified), people often become their own worst enemies and they make companies NOT WANT to help make things right. That's my 2 cents.

The only thing I can think to say in reply is simply this: Most folks just leave the memory cards in all the time. Removing a memory card is just something you don't really think about. Even I leave my MCs in unless I am playing a game that isn't on that card (which is when I swap 'em out): I catagorize my cards by game type - Survival Horror, RPGs, Fighting, War/Strat, Adult, and 3 cards with assorted games on them (the games on them fall into no particular category). Looking at my PS2 right now, I have the card marked "Assorted 2" in it (I was playing Tenchu 3 earlier tonight).
So chances are these guys just had their cards in because they always have and thought nothing of doing so - and they got burned.

Dude..this sucks...i went to play San andreas this morning and it dident load so i looked at memory card and it said it needed to be formatted..THIS IS BS...i had like all my major games on that memory card...i had vice city 100% San andreas i had like 50%..and GTA3 100%...this is BS...they shouldent be allowed to sell demo disks that havent been fully tested yet...god-dam i am so F-ing mad!

This glicth explains what happen to me.
I have an Official Sony 8mb Memory Card, and it is unformatted after playing the Holiday demo disc from Sony.
I have not reformatted the card yet however, because from my PC recovering experiences I believe there might be a way to recover it.
But now I know what cause it, thanx.

This Exact thing happend to me i had Final Fantasy 10 and 10 2 almost done All gone, Star Ocean All of the devil may crys, All Three of the Budokai's Dynasty Warriors all fo them /Hack Chaos Legion Tony Hawks, and more all gone from both of my memory cards. Some e-mail me if they know how to fix it or if they have the playstayion company phone number. i am ticked like the rest of ya

WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? it happened i was stupid enough to insert my good memory card before playing VJ2 demo. all my spyro files got deleted!!! WTF?!?!?!?!?! yes i know its been about 6 years but i found this again and because i was getting bored with my other games, decided to play had no clue that would happen and POOF!!! everything is gone!!!! but still WTF?!?!?!?!?
