The Lord Of The Rings, The White Council announced.
Electronic Arts announced today the development of The Lord of the Rings, The White Council, an all-new role playing game (RPG) for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC.
The game, inspired by the New Line Cinema feature film trilogy that grossed more than $3 billion, will feature an original storyline derived from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels under an agreement with EA. The game is scheduled to ship in late 2007.
“Our extremely talented and dedicated team is committed to creating an incredible new experience for fans of The Lord of the Rings and role playing gamers,” said Steve Gray, executive producer, The Lord of the Rings, The White Council. “With its next generation gameplay and epic new storyline, we think The Lord of the Rings, The White Council will be a huge success.”
Players have the freedom to explore the open world of Tolkien’s Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings, The White Council. Players can choose their role as a man, an elf, a dwarf, or a hobbit. Each role’s destiny is to become a hero allied with the White Council, whose members include the famed characters Gandalf, Saruman, Galadriel, and Elrond. A combination of stunning graphics and expansive environments, along with the freedom of movement demonstrates the innovation and quality of the next-generation RPG, where players can create their own adventures. The Lord of the Rings, The White Council has not yet been rated by PEGI.

DUDE!!! THATS NO FUN!!! ONLY BEING GOOD RACES!! WHY NOT HAVE A WHITE COUNCIL AND A BLACK COUNCIL, WITH GOOD RACES FOR THE WHITE AND BAD RACES FOR THE BLACK, THEN THERE WOULD BE LIKE 4 RACES FOR EACH, LIKE ORC, URUK-HAI, TROLL, AND HARAD OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES?

I'm actually only afraid of what they're doing to the story... It would take something absolutely dazzling to make it just a decent story.
I'm not sure about the other races, especially since trolls are Ents that Sauron twisted, Orcs are elves that got the same treatment, Uruk Hai are just Orcs Saruman twisted a little, and the Harad are just plain humans. Besides, give me an Ent over any of them if we're going to go with the full cast of races.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Wow, I am really looking forward to this game. I just hope that it is not going to let me down. It needs to be fully open ended just like the Elder Scrolls series is. Not a big fan of Linear games that say they are open ended and then are not ACTUALLY open ended ... really bothers me. and it would be nice if they had Evil Races, but I will take what I can take. Lets just hope there character customization options are good though. I don't want Four races with three different hair options and two different eye colors. Lets just close on the note that I wont hold my breath since I am not overly confident in the ability to make a quality Lord of The Rings Role-Playing-Game that can hold a candle against Oblivion without A) Being inferior to it. Or B) Clearly TRYING to copy Oblivion. Its got some shoes to fill, some big ones. Having to live up to the lore and franchise of Lord of The Rings and also having to still be a playable game that has the ability to appeal to a newer gamers and veteran Role-Play-Gamers can enjoy.

If you have played Lord of the Rings: The Third Age you shouldn't gget to hyped for this because that game sucked. All I'm saying is that the more experienced RPG players might end up disapointed but all the little noobs out there will of corse fall in love with anything that occupies time. As a long time RPG player I can say that I have played some good RPG's and I would recomend playing this at a friends house or rent it before buying it cause you might not love it as much as you thought you would but I hope the game designers prove me wrong.
