Atomic Betty games announced
Breakthrough New Media, the interactive division of Breakthrough Films & Television, has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with Namco to publish video games based on Breakthrough Animation's successful Atomic Betty franchise.
The announcement was made by Michael McGuigan, a managing partner of Breakthrough New Media and Jeff Lujan, Business Director, Namco Hometek Inc.
Namco and Breakthrough New Media will join forces to create and develop multiple Atomic Betty video game releases for multiple platforms with the first Atomic Betty video game scheduled to release in late 2005.
"We are delighted to join with Namco in bringing Atomic Betty to the video game market. An industry leader, Namco is an exciting partner that has demonstrated a full commitment to the franchise. We look forward to working with this outstanding company in creating and marketing video games that capture the fun and adventure of the Atomic Betty animated series," said McGuigan.
"Atomic Betty has proven itself as a magnet brand for kids, and we are excited to serve as the video game home for this highly popular franchise. Breakthrough Animation has produced a quality series that contains all the elements necessary to translate perfectly into the video game category," said Lujan.
Atomic Betty follows the adventures of Betty, a little girl with a big secret. To her friends and family, she's the sweet and brainy girl next door, but when the galaxy beckons, she sheds her humdrum persona and becomes: "Atomic Betty, Galactic Guardian and Defender of the Cosmos." While the citizens of Earth carry on with their every day lives, Atomic Betty zips across the galaxy on daring and valiant missions, from saving a race of space monkeys from a giant caterpillar invasion to rescuing a kidnapped ambassador from a ruthless king. She's a hero to the universe, but on her home planet Earth, Betty's just one of the gang. But that's the way she likes it -- if her Mom and Dad knew she was out zooming through the cosmos without a license, she'd be grounded for sure!
Atomic Betty has been licensed worldwide to major broadcasters in over 100 territories. An official Canada-France co-production, the series is produced by Breakthrough Animation Inc. and Atomic Cartoons with Tele-Images Kids.
